This close, the air around Luffy was hot and stifling, but Luffy was unbothered even as the wind whipped around his clothes. “Don’t beat whatever it is without me!” Luffy called out, though the crashing and cracking of trees up on top of the cliff drowned out anything he could say. Luffy jumped up, got a foothold on the cliffside, and started climbing. That didn’t help complete the picture, though, so Luffy backed up a couple of steps, seeing just a little bit more of Sodalite's head before his back hit a tree. “He didn’t hear me.” The sun glared into his eyes, so he lifted a hand to shield them from it with his hat. Sodalite didn’t come further into view, which had Luffy huffing. “Oooh, Soda Guy, hey!” He shifted up onto the tips of his toes, trying to get a better view. Luffy was stopped only by a cliff, one he could barely see Sodalite’s multi-colored hair over the edge of. “SCREEEEE!!” Cut sharply through the air. Over the few weeks they'd known each other, Luffy had only seen Sodalite fight maybe three times. Is Soda Guy fighting something?" He jumped up and down excitedly, springing forward with renewed vigor at just the idea of seeing Sodalite locked in battle. "Woah!" Luffy gasped, hearing crashing sounds and a roar just barely over the sounds of guitar playing. It was warm, carrying the smell of wood chips and something burning. The wailing of the guitar grew louder and louder, trees around him shifting back and forth restlessly with the wind that blew from deeper into the forest. "Where there's music, there's Soda Guy." Luffy nodded to himself, humming along to the guitar as he darted further into the forest. "Ohhh, right! That's the song!" Luffy said brightly, memory rushing back to him. Luffy tapped the side of his fist against his palm as realization dawned in his eyes. Thus found Luffy crossing the rickety bridge, ignorant to the boards creaking with the shuffle of weight. Whatever, he wasn't that late, so Sodalite had to be close, at least. "There's only so many places he could be!" In a giant forest. He had a pretty good track record of finding Sodalite. ![]() Luffy stood up and started walking, stepping over the missing plank in the wooden bridge with a spring in his step. He didn't hear a response and rubbed the back of his head. "SOOOOODA GUUUUUY!! WHERE ARE YOOOOU?" He called into the forest. Luffy sucked in a deep breath, filling his lungs. “Are you hiding or something?” Usually, Sodalite was there before him. “Soda Guy?” Luffy called into the empty space. When Luffy sat up and saw that familiar, rickety rope bridge he usually met Sodalite at, he let his gaze move around, searching for the large gem. The rough texture of said hat was a comforting brush against his fingers. He had to double-check that his hat was still on his head. “Stupid branch.” Luffy huffed, glaring up at his newest enemy. As it popped out and snapped back into place, there was a pout tugging at his lower lip. He reached up and into his head, grabbing his face to tug it free from its prison. Luffy flopped back onto his back, the momentum of his lower body carrying him a few more inches into the clearing he had been searching for.Ī groan bubbled up from his lips, something more annoyed than it was pained and muffled with how his face had seemingly squished back into his head from the force of the hit. His head squished around it, swinging him forward. A sound that cut off when he ran face-first into a low-hanging tree branch. Luffy threw a fist in the air and whooped at his own success. He jumped over a root that always seemed to have it out for him and grinned when he only stumbled a little bit on the landing. So, he just kept humming that small portion of it he could remember as he ran. ![]() He was off on the search now! A song was stuck in his head, something that went hm-hm hmmmm hmm hm HMMM, but he was having a hard time placing it. He'd been late to get out today, having missed their after breakfast meet-up thanks to Dadan stopping Luffy to clean. The trees rose high above his head, most thicker than Luffy could get his arms around without someone else’s help to stretch them.Īnd Luffy? Luffy was on his way to see his friend. The forest was lush, green, and vibrant as Luffy pushed through its densely packed foliage. The sun shone brightly through the leaves of the trees.
